Types of Pallet Rack
Selective rack is the most popular type of pallet rack available. There are two types of selective rack: roll formed and structural. Roll formed pallet rack is made from heavy duty sheet metal. There are several styles of roll-formed pallet rack, including teardrop, keystone and slotted. All are boltless, but teardrop pallet racks are the most common style because of their versatility. With the teardrop style, uprights and crossbeams are compatible across manufacturers and they can easily be reconfigured. Structural pallet racking is made from c-channel steel, which makes them more durable. Uprights and crossbeams are typically bolted together for increased rigidity, although boltless configurations are available. Structural pallet rack can withstand far greater impact and fork lift damage than roll formed rack. East Coast Storage Equipment maintains a large inventory of used warehouse equipment.
Pallet Flow Racking / Carton Flow Racking
Pallet flow racks and carton flow racks operate on gravity. Pallets or cartons are loaded from the rear of a rack system that is slightly inclined. When a pallet or carton is removed from the front, gravity advances the pallet / carton directly behind it. Flow racks basically act like a conveyor within a rack structure. Pallet flow rack and carton flow rack operate on a first-in, first-out basis, which ensures inventory rotation. Gravity flow racks are an economical type of high density storage and picking system. They may also use gravity-feed rollers on the racks. Want to save money without sacrificing quality? East Coast Storage Equipment maintains a large inventory of used warehouse equipment. Drive-in Racking / Drive-thru Racking
Drive-in rack and drive-thru pallet rack systems are an excellent option for economical, high density storage. Selectivity is limited, which is why this type of storage rack system is useful for storing one given product at a time. Drive-in rack, or “last in, first out” storage, allows access to product from only one aisle, usually because the other end is against a wall. Known as “first in, first out” storage, drive-thru racking allows lift truck access to pallets from two aisles. One aisle is usually dedicated as an entrance and the other as an exit. Drive-in rack and drive-thru rack are highly efficient because fewer aisles are required, which greatly increases storage density. These storage racks are well-suited for seasonal inventory or for bulk storage in coolers and freezers. East Coast Storage Equipment maintains a large inventory of used warehouse equipment. Single or Multi-Level Pick Module Systems
Pick module systems optimize the flow of product and maximize the use of space and labor through customized single or multi-level order picking and storage racks. They feature an aisle for forklift trucks to insert product on one side and an aisle for order picking on the other side. Pick module systems may utilize multiple types of storage racks to expedite the order-fulfillment process. They may include gravity flow racks (pallet flow racks or carton flow racks), push-back racks and static pallet racking, as well as conveyors.
